Can you still buy Optifast in the UK?

Not from any UK seller we could verify on 13 October 2026. Here's what we checked, and when.

  • optifast.co.uk redirects to a Nestlé Health Science page saying “Every Health is now closed”. Every Health was Nestlé's UK online shop.
  • Nestlé Health Science UK no longer lists Optifast among its brands. The /brands/optifast path redirects to the homepage.
  • Amazon UK shows the listings as “Currently unavailable”. Nutridrinks and mifarma are out of stock.
  • The Wayback Machine shows Optifast's UK shop running down through 2024: 19 products in April, 6 at 30% off in August, none by October.

We've found no announcement from Nestlé about why, so we're not going to speculate. We'll say what we checked, and leave the dated note here.

Overseas Optifast products are a different proposition. The Australian “VLCD” packs that occasionally appear on eBay are a different formulation with labels written for a different market. We don't recommend importing them.

What was Optifast?

Optifast was Nestlé Health Science's total diet replacement range, described by Nestlé as “developed specifically for medically supervised weight loss”. The UK line-up included shakes in six flavours, soups, bars and desserts.

On total diet replacement, the regime was four sachets a day. The UK data cards described the products as meal replacements for weight control or total diet replacement, labelled for adults only, and not to be used as total diet replacement for more than three weeks without medical advice.

Optifast was used in the NHS low-calorie diet pilot launched in 2021 for people with type 2 diabetes, and some NHS hospitals' pre-surgery diet leaflets named it alongside other meal-replacement and food-based options. It had a long clinical history and loyal users.

How do they compare per serving?

Side by side, the numbers are close. Both are meal replacements for weight control in the same regulatory category.

What does Shake That Weight cost?

A single Shake That Weight shake or soup is £1.99, and a full plan starts at £1.59 a meal on the 12-week Total Plan. New customers can take 20% off a 4-week New Starter Plan, and there's a 4-product Taster Pack at £5.99 if you'd like to try a few before you commit.

Optifast isn't on sale in the UK from any seller we could verify on 13 October 2026, so there's no current price to compare it with.

If a doctor or hospital gave you Optifast

Some NHS hospitals' pre-surgery diet leaflets list Optifast as one of several options, alongside supermarket own-brands and milk- or food-based plans. Optifast was also used in a 2021 NHS low-calorie diet pilot for people with type 2 diabetes.

If a doctor, dietitian or surgical team gave you a plan, follow it, and don't change products without their agreement. They'll know which alternatives they're happy with, and that's the right conversation to have.

MyJurnee — by Shake That Weight

What support do you get?

Every Shake That Weight plan comes with the MyJurnee app, free with every plan, plus our Facebook support group and a UK team you can reach by phone, email or live chat. The app covers weigh-ins and goal tracking with daily reminders, a private progress photo journal, an audio and written habit course, craving support and one-tap reorder, and it keeps running through maintenance.

Optifast's UK retail packs didn't come with a published app or coaching programme. If you were on the NHS low-calorie diet pilot or a bariatric pathway, your support came from the clinical team running it.

If you'd rather have real people to ask alongside a self-serve plan, that's what we're built for. If you need medical oversight, your GP or clinical team is the right place.

Our plans

We have six plans, each with its own calorie bracket and purpose. Pick the one that matches where you are.

  • Total Plan — 800 kcal, four meals a day, short-term total diet replacement. From £1.59 a meal on the 12-week option.
  • Everyday Plan — 1,000 kcal, two meal replacements plus one meal of your own and 200 kcal of snacks.
  • Active Plan — 1,200 kcal, built for active women and a sensible start for most men.
  • Maintenance Plan — a staged step-down from meal replacements, 3–4 weeks per stage.
  • 5:2 Plan — eat normally five days a week, with 800 kcal of meal replacements on the other two.
  • Medication Support Plan — 800 kcal, four meals, alongside GLP-1 medication for up to 12 weeks, guided by your healthcare provider.

Total diet replacement is short-term and should be done with medical advice if you have a condition or take medication. It isn't for under-18s or during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

What do you eat on ours?

Shakes, soups, meals, bars and breakfasts, all portion-controlled and nutritionally formulated as meal replacements. On 13 October 2026, our in-stock range is:

Dietary options include vegetarian, gluten-free and vegan products, labelled on every product page — on 13 October 2026, 31 of our in-stock products are labelled vegetarian, 21 gluten free and 4 vegan. Shake flavours in stock include Vanilla, Strawberry, Café Latte, Chocolate Mint, Chocolate Hazelnut, Cherry Bakewell and Tropical.

Ways to spend less

  • Taster Pack £5.99 — four products, a low-commitment way to try a few.
  • New Starter Plan — 20% off, £1.59 a meal, with an extra 10% off on subscription (£1.43 a meal).
  • Clearpay — spread the cost in four interest-free instalments.
  • NHS and emergency services — 10% off full-price items, no minimum spend.
  • Shake Club — our loyalty scheme: a point for every £1 you spend.
  • Refer a Friend — £5 for you, £5 for them.
  • Free delivery over £65; Large Letter delivery £1.50.

We're not aware of an Optifast discount code anywhere — it isn't on sale from any UK seller we could find.

What to look for in a meal-replacement plan

If you're looking for another meal-replacement range, here are honest things to compare, brand aside:

  • Nutrition per serving — energy, protein and whether it's nutritionally complete for meal replacement.
  • Price per meal, not per sachet — multi-week plans usually bring the per-meal price down.
  • Formats and flavours — enough variety to see you through a plan without boredom.
  • Support — app, community, people you can talk to.
  • Suitability — adults only; GP advice first if you have a condition or take medication; not for under-18s or during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

If you're comparing other brands, we've written similar pages on the Cambridge Diet (now The 1:1 Diet), Lipotrim, Slim & Save and Exante.

"They arrived well packaged and on time. The bars are bigger than expected and very filling. I haven't been hungry since using them. The taste is also superior to other bars I have used in the past. I particularly like the peanut ones and the chocolate cookie ones. I have lost over 3lb this week and have been having a sensible low calorie, low carb evening meal. I'm over 68yrs and had been finding it hard to shift the weight."

Can you still buy Optifast in the UK?
Not from any UK seller we could verify on 13 October 2026. optifast.co.uk redirects to a Nestlé page saying their UK online shop has closed; Amazon UK shows it as unavailable; other sellers we checked were out of stock. Nestlé Health Science UK no longer lists Optifast among its brands.
Has Optifast been discontinued?
We've found no announcement from Nestlé either way. What we can say is that on 13 October 2026 we couldn't find Optifast on sale from Nestlé or any UK seller we checked, and that the Wayback Machine shows the UK shop winding down through 2024.
Where can I buy Optifast shakes?
We couldn't find a UK seller with stock on 13 October 2026. Overseas versions, like the Australian VLCD packs that appear on eBay, are a different formulation and label and we don't recommend importing them.
Was Optifast prescription-only?
No. Its UK data cards were marked for healthcare professional use, but they describe Optifast as a “meal replacement for weight control or total diet replacement” — the same regulatory category as our products — and position it for medically supervised weight loss. It wasn't a prescription medicine.
How many calories are in an Optifast shake?
216 kcal per serving, with 20g of protein, according to Nestlé's UK data cards from November 2021.
How do your shakes compare nutritionally?
Our shakes sit in a similar bracket: our Vanilla shake is 212 kcal and 20.7g protein, mixed with skimmed milk. The nutrition table above gives the full side-by-side for one in-stock shake and one soup.
What shakes does the NHS use for weight loss?
There isn't a single brand. Different NHS pre-surgery leaflets list several meal-replacement brands alongside milk- or food-based options, and the NHS also runs its own soups and shakes programme for some people with type 2 diabetes. Neither is an endorsement of any one brand, including ours.
My hospital told me to use Optifast before surgery. What should I do?
Speak to the team that gave you the plan. If a doctor, dietitian or surgical team chose Optifast for you, they decide what replaces it, and they'll know which alternatives they're happy with. Don't change products without their agreement.
How much weight can I lose on Optifast, or on your plans?
Results depend on the person, the plan and how closely it's followed, and we can't give a figure that would apply to you. Your GP is the right place to talk about targets and whether a low-calorie plan is suitable.
Is a total food replacement diet safe?
Total diet replacement is designed for short-term use and should be done with medical advice if you have a condition or take medication. It isn't for under-18s or during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Products in this category are nutritionally formulated to be used as a sole source of nutrition for a limited period.
Can I do 2 shakes and 1 meal a day?
Yes — that's our Everyday Plan, at 1,000 kcal a day. Substituting two of the main daily meals of an energy restricted diet with meal replacements contributes to weight loss. Meal replacements are only useful as part of an energy-restricted diet, other foods should be a necessary part of that diet, and it's important to drink enough fluid every day.
Is there an Optifast discount code?
Not that we can find — Optifast isn't on sale in the UK from any seller we could verify. Our own discounts include 20% off a New Starter Plan and 10% for NHS and emergency services staff.
Do you have a taster pack?
Yes — the Taster Pack is £5.99 and includes four products so you can try a few before you commit to a plan.
Where do you deliver, and what does it cost?
We deliver across the UK, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man and the Netherlands. Delivery is free over £65, Large Letter from £1.50 for a few sachets, and next-working-day and weekend delivery are available.
