Grilled Asparagus

Cooking Tips: If you bend asparagus spears, they will naturally snap at the transition point between the woody part and the softer stem. Just snap the spears and discard the bottoms!

These grilled spears go very well with an aromatic rice such as basmati or jasmine rice.

1 lb fresh asparagus
1 Tbsp olive oil
freshly ground black pepper to taste
dash balsamic vinegar

Directions:
Preheat your grill or oven broiler to high and lightly oil the grate or broiling pan. Trim about 2 inches off the bottoms of the asparagus. Lightly coat the spears with the oil. Grill over high heat for 2 to 3 minutes, or to desired tenderness. Sprinkle with black pepper and balsamic vinegar. Serve hot.
